Why I love Italy – #2 The Italian Shores

My love for the sea is something I cannot live without. Probably it is too late to share with you this post, but it could be useful for your vacation in Italy next summer!

Summer is definetely my favourite season: the sound of the waves, breeze in the hair, salty sunkissed skin. There is no summer without some time spent at the beach. Whether for a weekend or a whole vacation, Italy has plenty of places to offer you the perfect stay and some of the most beautiful shores of the Mediterranean Sea, just few hours form Florence, Rome, Naples or a couple of hours flight from the main European cities.

Here some of the best Italian beaches that I have already discovered, and some I still have to.

LA PELOSA, STINTINO -SARDINIA.

Stintino - La Pelosa

My favourite place in Italy is this beach. Sardinia is my land, so I am not so objective in placing this at the top of my list, but its beauty will conquer you and at the end you will agree with me. Cristal clear waters, white sand, this is definetely paradise on earth.

CAPOBIANCO AND SANSONE, ELBA ISLAND -TUSCANY

sansone Capobianco e Sansone

Only one hour of ferryboat from the land, Elba Island is a little Italian jewel. Its beaches are quite small and never crowded (exept in August) and very relaxing. The island is quite small itself so the villages are few minutes far from the beaches and in some case just a walking distance far. The two beaches of Capobianco and Sansone for me are the best with their white pebbles and a relaxing atmosphere.

SPIAGGIA DEI CONIGLI, LAMPEDUSA – SICILY

Spiaggia dei Conigli

Another tiny island, another beautiful spot: pristine waters and clear sand. Isn’t it enough for you?

ISOLE TREMITI – APULIA

Isole Tremiti

Tremiti Islands are a pretty hidden treasure of Apulia, with their carribbean sea and small quiet beaches.

PONZA – LAZIO

ponza

Waters so pristine are difficult to be found elsewhere. In the Lazio region, amongst the Pontine Islands, Ponza is another Italian treasure. Take a dive, a boat ride and go discover yourself the Blue Grotto, you won’t regret this incredible experience.

Have you been to other unforgettable Italian beaches? Do you have any suggestion for our next vacations? Any place that stole your heart? Share it!
