The Christmas Markets of Verona

Yep, the time has arrived. The countdown to Christmas has begun! I must say that, despite my repulsion to everything related to cold, and winters here are really cold and long, the Christmas atmosphere has some magical appeal also for me. There is an event, held in my city, that I always await: Verona’s Christmas Markets.

In few days, from the 20th of November till 27th of December, Piazza dei Signori, also called Piazza Dante, will come alive in a magical festive atmosphere. Lots of stands with food, wine, handmade ornaments, teas, Tyrolese inspired clothes and much more will welcome you for an itinerary that will suddenly transport you in a magical Winter Wonderland.

The stands offers several types of dishes, starting from the typical Vienna sausages with sauces and sauerkraut or smashed potatoes, chocolate, hot and not, mulled wine, stuffed focaccia breads, hot teas and beer.

It is also the perfect place to find some new original ornaments for your Christmas tree and your house. Starting from the colorful ornaments, in glass, handmade painted, in plastic, knitted, made of cones, vanilla sticks or the plain ones, ready to be customized back home, to candle holders with stunning winter landscapes and festive wreaths, here you’ll really find everything you may want to renovate your home decoration for the upcoming Christmas.#Verona's #Christmas #Markets

You’ll also have the chance to buy some gifts, from jewelry to fluffy slippers or scarfs and gloves, but everything you’ll find here is for sure Christmas and season related. The square is really transformed into a Winter Wonderland! Next to Piazza Dante, in the court of Palazzo della Ragione, you’ll find more stands, and the house of Santa Clause.

The smell of sweet and winter, the colors, the lights at night, the square will change into a magical Xmas world for a month, bringing new life to the old town as every year there are more stands, and more tourists, coming for this fairy-tale event. Take also advantage to visit and see the city under a different light, the Christmas Lights! Every year Verona dresses the old town and some neighborhoods near the city center with beautiful and colorful Christmas lights, adding some magic to an already magical city and time of the year.
