As I’ve already said on Instagram, I firmly believe that the first step toward success in trying. Isn’t it? Otherwise I won’t have nothing new done in my life, and you in yours as well.
You may already know, or you may now discover, that our last trip has took us to Indonesia: Bali and Gili Meno to be precise. I was feeling that photos weren’t enough to share all the beauty of Bali and Gili, and that’s why we’ve decided to give it a try and shot some videos.
I am aware that the quality is not at its top (I’ve filmed with my Samsung Galaxy S6Edge, while the photos are always taken both with the smartphone and my Canon EOS400D) but as a start, I like the outcome. Of course we’ve already noticed some things to fix for the next videos, but we’re pretty happy of it.
We stayed 4 nights on the island of Gili Meno, one of the three Gilis together with Gili Trawangan and Gili Air, the smallest one. It is in fact so small that in two hours you can walk all around the island. That’s precisely what we did. We had breakfast and then left for a trekking, better a walk as the island in perfectly flat, exploring it. The video is the result of that walk, it shows you some of the better beaches, in most of them we were alone, the street, some of the life of the island and its stunning nature. Gili Meno is the perfect island for those seeking relax, tranquility, beautiful beaches, a wonderful nature and for whom like to feel like Robinson Crusoe once in his life.
Do not make the mistake of thinking that on Gili Meno you’ll feel bored. At all! On our last day on the island we took part in a snorkeling tour that gave us the possibility not only to explore some of the most beautiful snorkeling spots of Gili Meno, but also of Gili Trawangan and Gili Air! I must tell you that this has been so far the best thing we could have done there. It was the first time for me (I am a little bit scared of high waters and of the sea if I don’t see the bottom clearly) so I was a bit anxious before getting on the boat but, oh boy, it has been one of the best experiences in my life!
The waters are so clear you can see the ocean floor from the boat, and the underwater life leaves you speechless. Turtles, corals, tropical fishes of any color and dimension swimming around you, literally you’ll be surrounded by fishes. It’s magical. The only thing I regret is not having a GoPro to film everything, especially my wondering happy face. Let me just tell you that the first time I swam with a turtle (they are really really big there) I screamed in happiness.
I don’t want to spoiler you any more so, here’s the video. Watch it, enjoy Gili Meno, and let me absolutely know if you have any suggestion in doing better!
