There is something in this city that makes your heart skip a beat, whether is the first or the tenth time you visit it. It is unique in its every single part. It is fascinating, it captures your soul. My favorite way to enjoy Venice is at night, when the tourists crowd lows and you can truly make the city yours. My second favorite way to enjoy Venice is a Bacaro Tour. “What is that?” you may ask. Bacaro is an Italian, actually Venetian, word that indicates a small typical Venetian tavern, where you can sample lots of wines and taste the small Cicchetti, little bites of canapes, fish, mixed fry that accompanies the Ombre (small glasses of wine). It is a beloved tradition in Venice and I would like to share with you my best spots to follow this foody tour.
Well-known for its meatballs, Osteria Ca d’Oro Alla Vedova is a typical Venetian place, perfect as Bacaro but also for dinner, but be sure to reserve a table at least the day before your dinner, it is always always full!
I really like this place for its delicious Ginger Spritz and its wide variety of Cicchetti. It also offers a very good selection of wines.
Luca e Fred
My favorite so far for the delicious and wide selection of food they offer. It is THE place I always go back when in Venice and fancy an aperitivo.
A nice location overlooking Rialto, very good spritzs and wines. What else? The place is located where once there was the Naranzaria, the ancient storage room for citruses.
Next to La Naranzaria, same excellent location and a very good selection of wine.
There are plenty of excellent taverns and inns around Venice, especially located along less touristic routes or hidden in side streets. Do you have any you’ve tried and would like to recommend? Let us know, we’ll give them a try in our next visit!
