Picture yourself on a tiny rural island, made of great beaches, crystal clear waters, tropical sealife, empty streets, no cars… You are on Gili Meno, where we spent some days during our Bali exploration. Today I won’t talk about the island itself (you can find the video of our stay here) but about Mahamaya Boutique Resort, where we stayed while on the island.
The resort is a beautiful all white building overlooking the ocean, located on the north-western part of Gili Meno, far from the main village so a very relaxing stay is guaranteed! On the front of the hotel there’s the restaurant, the best in all Gili Meno, with tables both inside and on the beach, right in front of the sea (very romantic, they also arrange a Romantic dinner with a reserved table on the beach!). Their dishes are delicious, as the breakfast they serve there in the morning. Be sure to taste the pancakes with lime and sugar, the right way to start a day of exploration! During the day the beach is ready for the guests with white comfy sunbeds and small tables, perfect for a day in the sun, or for waiting the sunset with a delicious cocktail in your hands.
On the sides of the resort there are their two beach villas, with private sunbeds and a beautiful hanging chair, while on the back of the hotel front there are the pool-view suites. The 14 guests rooms, facing the two swimming pools, are conveniently hidden from the main path, so relax and privacy are guaranteed. Every room has an outer living area, while inside the cream colored interiors are decorated with some local artists pieces. The room itself is not the largest I stayed in, but the in-room bathroom is spacious and the outside shower is wonderful!
I must admit that the room is the aspect that disappointed me a bit, I think that with some more attention to the details (we had a broken window and mirror, the furniture weren’t maintained in a perfect way) it will be perfect! Actually, you won’t spend much time in the room, you’ll be out all the time swimming with the turtles or exploring the island, but being a luxury resort, you expect perfection. I don’t want this to stop booking your stay at Mahamaya, at all! I think is the best resort on the island, but I have to be transparent and give you my honest opinion.
Mahamaya Boutique Resort, besides the skimming pools and the pool bar, offers you a service of masks and fins free rental, bikes, beach towels and tour booking services. A gym is open for all the guests while the spa of the hotel is ready to give you some relaxation. Mahamaya is also an eco-friendly hotel, paying close attention in minimizing water usage and plastic wastes, also their rooms are designed to maximize natural air flow and reduce the use of air conditioning and to reduce electricity the rooms don’t have TVs.
The staff of Mahamaya is the best part of your stay. Welcoming, friendly, always at your service. It has truly been a pleasure staying at Mahamaya thanks to them, and I hope to have the chance to be soon their guest again.
