48 hours of Naples

Last weekend we spent two wonderful days visiting friends in Naples. That was my first time in the city and I felt in love with its beauty and vitality. Luckily we had our friends guiding us around the town, so we had the most out of our two days visit.

Naples is a city full of things to see and do and two days are not enough to see almost anything, but here are some tips and our itinerary.

1- Walk around the city centre without a specific destination, get lost! That is obvious, the best way to visit a city is to walk around. Stop to have a coffee at Gambrinus, you won’t regret it. Take a stroll on Lungomare, the seafront promenade.

2- Visit the area of San Gregorio Armeno, world known for its little shops of statutes for the nativity scene that include the traditional ones but also some art crafts of famous people.    IMG_0352 IMG_0360

3- The cloister of Santa Chiara is definitely worth a visit. Its majolica ceramic decorations will leave you speachless by their beauty and they give the place a flair that you won’t easily find elsewhere in the world.

4- We got the opportunity to visit the volcano Solfatara, in Pozzuoli, one of the volcanoes of the still active complex called Phlegrean Fields. An unique and exclusive experience (that you need to book in advance) with a guided tour of the crater. Book the 7pm tour: you’ll be able to see the beauty of the place both in daylight and at night. This is a magic and whimsical place, still an unusual spot that will leave you a sense of wonder and respect for mother nature. IMG_0383
